Working Areas

SOCH Nepal believes in equal dignity of all human beings. The rational mind can solve the human problem not a supernatural power. Humanism is a world-view thrived by Gautam Buddha and Jay Prithivi Bahadur Singh among various Humanists throughout world. SOCH Nepal is also a member of Humanists International. It runs various programs to promote Humanism such as: Publication, empowerment, youth seminars, network development, policy advocacy and celebration of major festivals of science, dignity and reason

It is crucial for promoting accountability, transparency, and the rule of law to reduce corruption and promote economic growth and development, as well as ensure that the needs and voices of all citizens are accommodated by the state regardless of their gender, religion, caste, or ethnicity. SOCH Nepal tirelessly acts for accountable, transparent, and inclusive governance through the lobby, advocacy, and promoting e-governance.

Article 26 of the Constitution of Nepal- 2015 guarantees the right to freedom of religion and belief to all Nepali citizens, including the right to profess, practice, and protect one’s religion or belief. Ensuring this will provide ground for each human to live dignified and happy life. SOCH Nepal is also campaigning against Kurities or Harmful Traditional Practices (HTP). It has identified 63 HTPs in Nepal. Removal of ill cultural practices will save millions of women’s and children’s life.

Nepal’s majority of the population relies on agriculture and related activities for their subsistence. SOCH Nepal helps them to alleviate poverty, promote economic growth, and reduce inequality by providing people with stable sources of income. SOCH Nepal incorporates skills training and education to improve the overall well-being and quality of life. Additionally, SOCH provides diverse livelihood options which can help communities become more resilient to natural disasters and other shocks.

SOCH Nepal has its unique feature of livelihood program called ‘Model Village Program’ focusing on the upliftment of the livelihood of Dalits and poor women of Nepal which is successfully completed in selected areas.
